Dermaplane
Dermaplane
Dermaplaning is a gentle, in-office exfoliation treatment. A sterile, surgical-style blade is held at a shallow angle and drawn carefully across the skin to remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells along with fine, soft facial hair, often called "peach fuzz." The result is skin that looks brighter and feels noticeably smoother.
Benefits of Dermaplaning
- Smoother, softer-feeling skin
- A brighter, more even-looking complexion
- Removal of fine facial hair
- Makeup that goes on more smoothly
- Better contact between your skin and your skin care products
Is Dermaplaning Right for Me?
Dermaplaning is suitable for many skin types and is a good choice if your skin looks dull or feels rough. It may not be a good option during an active acne breakout or if you have a cold sore, rash, or irritated skin in the treatment area. A common question is whether the hair grows back thicker or darker. It does not; the fine facial hair grows back the same as before.
What to Expect
Your skin is cleansed and dried, and then the blade is moved in short, gentle strokes across the face. Most people find the treatment comfortable and relaxing, and no numbing is needed. Afterward, your skin may look slightly pink for a few hours. There is typically no downtime, and you can return to your normal activities right away.
For a few days after treatment, avoid harsh scrubs and strong exfoliating products, and wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen every day. Freshly exfoliated skin is more sensitive to the sun.
Pairs Well with Peels and Facials
Because dermaplaning clears away surface buildup, it is often paired with other treatments. Combining it with a chemical peel or a facial can help those treatments work evenly across the skin. We can help you decide which combination fits your skin and your goals.
